In this clip, Vlad started off speaking to Neil deGrasse Tyson about becoming the head of the Hayden Planetarium, which is where he started his love of astronomy as a child. Neil then spoke about then-president George W. Bush appointing him to a White House commission of 12 people, who were looking at reviving the aerospace industry. Neil was then later appointed by Bush to the “Moon, Mars, and Beyond” commission, where he stated they asked about the benefits of continuing the space program. From there, Neil spoke about the U.S. not inviting China to the international space station due to “human rights violations.” He then pointed out that Russia was invited, and that’s why the ISS is now comprised of the U.S., Russia, and other European nations. This led to Neil speculating that this led to NASA’s Artemis program, which will return astronauts to the moon.
