Neil deGrasse Tyson came through for his first-ever VladTV interview, where Vlad started off giving him his flowers for his contribution to the science world. Neil then spoke about being raised in the Bronx by his father, who was the Human Resource Commissioner in the 1960s under Mayor John Lindsay. While speaking about his mother, Neil explained that his mother was a Gerontologist for the federal government. Neil then detailed growing up in the Castle Hill housing projects until they were forced out when his father started making more money. When asked about the Bronx in the 1970s, Neil explained that there was a neighborhood feel, but he added that there were parts that were falling down. Vlad then asked Neil about hip-hop being born in the Bronx in the 1970s, and he explained that since he lived in a different area of the borough, he only learned of it like the rest of the world. Neil added that people were losing their minds over the birth of hip-hop, which you can hear more about above.
