Freedom Gee Prepares to Drop New Single & EP Under Reezy Nation Records

A new wave is sweeping through the Durban music scene, and leading it is none other than Nkululeko Freedom Gcwensa, better known by his stage name Freedom Gee or uSomandla. The talented young artist is preparing to officially launch his musical journey with the release of a brand-new single, Umsindo Omnandi, which will serve as the introduction to his upcoming EP. This exciting release also marks his recent signing with Reezy Nation Records, a big step forward in his promising career.

Born on December 1, 1998, and raised in the township of Ntuzuma, Freedom Gee grew up surrounded by a vibrant community rich in musical culture. His passion for music began during his high school years, where he joined local acapella groups, performing and exploring his voice alongside other young talents in his area. It was through this musical path that he met Andile Mbili, a well-known figure in the music space, who would become his mentor and biggest supporter.

Their journey together started in 2018, with Andile helping to shape Freedom into the artist he is today. From vocal training to performance skills, their partnership has been vital in building his confidence and style. “He shaped me into a polished performer,” Freedom says, acknowledging the influence Andile has had on his growth as a singer and entertainer.

While he began in the gospel and acapella scene, Freedom Gee has evolved into a multi-genre artist, comfortably moving between gospel, house, and afropop. His ability to switch styles and blend influences is one of his standout qualities, earning him praise for being both innovative and authentic. His music reflects his experiences, emotions, and love for storytelling.

Over the years, Freedom has shared stages with some of South Africa’s most respected gospel artists, including the iconic Benjamin Dube. These moments not only boosted his exposure but also proved that he could hold his own among the best. With every performance, he continues to show that he has the talent, presence, and drive to go far in the music industry.

Signing with Reezy Nation Records is a turning point in his journey. His upcoming single, Umsindo Omnandi—which means “beautiful sound” in isiZulu—is expected to be a powerful track that introduces fans to the sound and soul of his EP. The project promises a blend of powerful vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and catchy production, capturing the essence of who Freedom Gee is as an artist.

The EP will highlight his growth and unique musical identity, offering listeners a mix of genres and moods. More than just music, it’s a reflection of his personal and artistic evolution. It represents where he’s come from, what he stands for, and where he’s headed.

Though his career is taking off, Freedom remains grounded and proud of his roots. He frequently pays tribute to Ntuzuma, the place that shaped him both personally and artistically. His journey from local acapella singer to rising music star is a story of hard work, dedication, and a deep love for music.

Now, as he gears up to release Umsindo Omnandi and officially step into the spotlight, Freedom Gee is a name to watch. His talent, passion, and authenticity are already capturing attention—and this is only the beginning.

With his EP on the way and new opportunities unfolding, Freedom Gee is ready to make his mark on South African music. The sound may be new, but the message is clear—a star is rising in Durban, and the world is about to hear him loud and clear.

Racism still exists, and Africans though we have been physically liberated from slavery, we are still mentally enslaved.
