Interview with KING ELI
Event for Lost Pyramids Music Radio (LPMR.207) by Hugh Green and Justin King Rhino .
King Eli, born Justin Elijah, is an avid rap artist, song writer, and skateboarder with a leader’s
mindset. At the turbulent age of 16, he was introduced to his calling in a prison cell. It was
there where he wrote song after song following his divine vision. Three and a half years later,
after graduating high school, he moved from his hometown in southern New Jersey to
Orlando, Florida. He attended Fullsail University to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Recording
Arts. During his time at the University, he proceeded with bringing his vision to life by starting
his label, NuMerika Records. Often, he would say:
“With a NuSound, a NuLife will be created for the listener. When there are enough NuLives,
the result will be a NuMerika.”
Eli attended Fullsail for one year and chose to withdraw from school. In that year, he built a
strong production team, including his personal producer, Randy Goody. He felt his purpose at
the school had been fulfilled after bonding with the rest of the NuMerika crew. He went to
Zac Recording Studio in Atlanta, GA and became a certified Protools Audio Engineer via
Promedia Training. Soon after, he started TrustFund Studio with Randy and his photographer,
Brittany Cooke; based in Winter park, FL. This is where he and Randy work on his debut
album, “God is My Label.”
King Eli wants to be recognized for is Heaven sent talent and nothing more. The satisfaction
of knowing music touches deep places in peoples’ lives leaves him feeling fulfilled. He doesn’t
want to be labeled a Christian Rapper, although he is a follower of Christ. He prefers to be
called…a rapper who’s a Christian.
